About the Role
Responsible for maintaining the operational condition of Podzilla equipment at all Storage Centers within a designated territory. Ensures all preventative maintenance and documentation of work using Work Orders. Assists with forklift preventative maintenance, structural welding repairs, or training if qualified. Helps maintain a safe and clean working environment inside and outside the assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled maintenance and minor repairs on the patented hydraulic lift system (Podzilla), including small engine troubleshooting, 12V electrical diagnostics, and occasional light tack welding, metal grinding, and cutting when required.
- Complete and maintain records on repairs and scheduled preventive maintenance using the Work Order System; provide updates to management as needed.
- Perform structural repairs on flatbed trucks or Podzillas if certified.
- Train new technicians if certified as a PODS Train the Trainer.
- Perform preventative maintenance on forklifts if qualified.
- Order parts from internal and external sources as needed.
- Maintain all PODS-owned repair tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Provide training to drivers on the proper use of the lift system to eliminate unnecessary repairs.
- Travel between storage centers in an assigned territory.
- Repair damaged containers to PODS standards and perform light carpentry work and repairs in storage centers (less than 20% of time).
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities
Typically reports to management (e.g., Market Manager, Territory Manager). This position is not directly responsible for managing other employees but may manage temporary staff during busy seasons.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of engine repair experience (forklift, hydraulic systems, vehicle maintenance, small engine repair).
- AWS Structural Steel Welding Certificate (AWS D1.1) and/or mechanical certification(s) or diploma equivalent.
- Certified as a PODS Trainer for Podzilla repairs.
- Forklift repair experience (4+ years) or a Certified Forklift Technician (CFT) certificate (ASE Automotive certification accepted).
- Experience using Fleet Maintenance Software preferred.
- Current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Light/medium carpentry skills.
- Prior supervisory or team leader experience; warehouse experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
