Job Duties

  • Perform test drives, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles
  • Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment
  • Examines critical parts and systems using standard checklists and manufacturer guidelines
  • Inspects internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with state regulations
  • Follows strategy based diagnosis protocol to identify where problems exist and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced
  • Recommends needed repairs or maintenance on customer or company cars
  • Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts
  • Completes preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, tire rotation, and replacing brakes
  • Performs assigned repairs to factory standards and dealership specifications
  • Follows manufacturer and dealership repair procedures when performing any repairs
  • Conducts post-repair testing and diagnostics to confirm proper operation, that repairs have been made properly, and that problems have been resolved
  • Accurately identifies and list the conditions, cause and remedy (“CCR”) on repair orders, using correct grammar and professional language
  • Ensures that all paperwork is complete, accurate, and legible and finished in a timely fashion
  • Continues to develop additional technical skills, as appropriate, to enable flexibility in work assignments
  • Maintains knowledge of technical bulletins issued by the manufacturer and reads 100% of those bulletins that apply to your own job assignments
  • Obtains manufacturer training and/or (ASE) certification as determined necessary by the Service Manager
  • Maintains a clean, safe and well organized work area
  • Properly maintains tools and equipment when performing service work and follows correct safety practices

Requirements

  • Knowledge of vehicle/engine repair
  • Additional education, certifications, or related experience is generally preferred; including ASE certification, OEM certification, associate’s degree in auto maintenance and repair, etc.
  • Possess a valid driver license
  • Proficient with hand tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software
