As a Tech Consultant in the Electronics and Entertainment team, you’ll deliver strong operations, incredible guest experiences, and elevated interactions to make shopping easy and rewarding for our guests.

The role of a Tech Consultant can provide you with skills and experience in:

• Adapting communication style to build trusting relationships with guests and influence tech solutions
• Retail business fundamentals, including inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotion strategies
• Engaging with Tech and Entertainment products, including video game trends, health tech, tech accessories, books, music, and pop culture assortment

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by:
  • Greeting guests at 10ft (smile, make eye contact, or wave) and 4ft (initiate a warm, helpful interaction)
  • Helping guests find what they need or resolving issues for a smooth shopping experience
  • Ending every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring experience
• Stay aware of top sellers and new product trends to help guests find the right technology solutions and accessories
• Be knowledgeable about new releases across music, books, and video games, ensuring product is ready for guests at opening
• Create an inviting shopping environment by ensuring product is in stock, signed correctly, and the area is clean and shoppable
• Support changes to product assortment and maintain brand spaces following new sets
• Advocate for Target-owned brands and educate guests on their benefits (e.g., extended returns, price point, guarantees)
• Help guests maximize their new tech purchase by sharing accessory options
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of extended warranty options (Allstate and Apple Care+) and buy-now, pay-later options (Affirm)
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely, comply with safety policies, and report hazards
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick-up (OPU), and Drive-up (DU) while maintaining compliance (e.g., federal, state, and local adult beverage laws)
• Perform all other duties based on business needs

Requirements

• 6+ months of previous retail experience preferred, but not required
• Strong interest in electronics and entertainment products, particularly health tech, video games, tech accessories, books, and music
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices, operate handheld scanners, and use other technology equipment as directed
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and with a team
• Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb up and down ladders
• Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds without assistance
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays); ability to come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts, and take required meal and rest breaks
• Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing job duties (e.g., Drive-Ups, carryout)
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
