About the role
People's Food Co-op Clerks in the Grocery Department play a critical role in ensuring our shoppers leave the store with an awesome experience. Grocery Clerks are responsible for replenishing and merchandising all grocery products and maintaining a working knowledge of product selections and locations.
This position works 3-4 nights per week, including a combination of weeknights and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt and friendly service, including answering questions and providing samples.
- Maintain knowledge of product, provide information to customers regarding use and preparation.
- Ensure department cases, shelf areas, and prep areas are clean.
- Order products as directed.
- Receive product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy.
- Prepare items for stocking, stock, rotate, merchandise, and face product according to procedure.
- Maintain back stock areas according to department standards.
- Know and adhere to quality standards for customer service as instructed by the department manager.
- Adhere to all guidelines around product recommendation and information.
- Know and promote the cooperative values and principles.
- Communicate respectfully with customers and coworkers at all times.
- Prioritize work tasks, multi-task, and maintain focus.
- Operate with a sense of teamwork.
- Report for scheduled shifts on-time and ready to work.
- Understand and adhere to organizational and department policy and procedures.
- Accept direction willingly and follow through with delegated tasks.
- Perform tasks consistently at an acceptable rate as outlined by the department manager.
- Maintain a safe work environment according to all department procedures, federal, and state regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to safely lift 15 to 35 lbs.
- Ability to stand/walk 6-8 hours per day.
- Ability to engage in bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay
