Team Member - Cashier/Sales Associate/Retail

About the Role

The Team Member is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while delivering a Legendary Customer Experience. Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance; work scheduled shifts and be able to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Deliver Legendary Customer Service using the GURA method: Greet the Customer, Uncover Customer’s Needs & Wants, Recommend Product Solutions, Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
• Operate cash register/computer and follow cash handling procedures.
• Recover merchandise.
• Participate in mandatory freight processes.
• Complete Plan‑o‑gram procedures (merchandising, sets, and resets).
• Assemble merchandise.
• Perform janitorial duties.
• Execute price changes and markdowns.
• Operate forklift (unless under the age of 18).
• Operate cardboard baler (unless under the age of 18).
• Assist customers with loading purchases.
• Ensure customers have a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from the competition.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of birds; sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
• Complete all documentation associated with any of the above duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• No prior experience required; retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.

Working Conditions

The work environment is generally indoors with moderate noise; indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.). Lighting and temperature are adequate. Shifts vary by store, typically no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours. Team Members are expected to promote a safe and productive environment and adhere to company safety training and guidelines.

Physical Requirements

• Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 lb throughout the store.
• Push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 lb with assistance of material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
• Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
• Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
• Move throughout the store for an entire shift.
• Safely access all store areas, including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
• Operate store equipment such as dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, and cash register (forklift and baler not required for those under 18).
• Read, write, and count accurately to complete documentation.
• Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills with team members.
• Process information/merchandise through the point‑of‑sale system.
• Handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
• Complete required training, including propane certification (not required for those under 18).
