About the role
Potbelly Sandwich Shop is seeking friendly and outgoing individuals to join our team. Our shops are known for their friendly atmosphere and high-quality sandwiches. This is a fast-paced environment where teamwork and excellent customer service are key.
Responsibilities
- Work multiple stations (loading, dressing, shakes, cash, prep, front)
- Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety
- Restock food line, chips, and cooler
- Prepare quality finished products efficiently
- If 18 or older, use of the automatic slicer to prep food items
- Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and utensils; take out trash
- Operate cash register: handle, balance, and follow all cash handling procedures
- Effectively handle customer complaints/issues
- Takes delivery/catering/pickup orders over the phone
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
You must be at least 16 years old and have a friendly, customer-first mindset. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with comfort working in a bustling kitchen environment. Knife skills are a plus, and you should be able to manage potential allergens such as peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish. You must be able to stand/walk for 3 hours or as needed and lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Qualifications
To be eligible, all IL employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.
