Team Leader - Shift 2

About the role

Summit Polymers is a leading global supplier of automotive interior systems, delivering engineering and product excellence to customers with over 50 years of industry experience. This position reports to the Supervisor, Manufacturing (Assembly) and is responsible for training employees in standardized work, problem-solving, and removing bottlenecks from the production line. You will also fill in for utilities and operators as needed.

Responsibilities

• Train and develop operators in standardized work (training to the OIS and Quality Boards).
• Perform end-of-line quality sorts to find defects and train operators to build without defects.
• Fill in for absent operators and utilities to maintain on-time production.
• Assist operators and utilities to maintain production at 100% rate and 100% quality parts.
• Assist in removing bottlenecks from the manufacturing operation by helping operators maintain on-time production and supporting utility personnel in re-supplying parts and removing finished goods.
• Actively participate in ongoing product and process improvement in support of the Summit Lean manufacturing System.
• Follow the ILU criteria for the department and update the department’s ILU charts.
• Maintain Production Analysis Boards for production feedback.
• Work with the supervisor on 8D’s and problem-solving.
• Assist in maintaining the work area in an orderly and safe condition.
• Communicate all issues with previous and incoming team leaders.
• Comply with environmental health and safety systems.
• Other tasks or projects as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.
• Minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional score of 16 on the Cognitive portion).
• Agreement to complete all post-hire required training.

This position typically does not require any travel.
