Team Leader, ON, Fresh Kitchen - Lakeland

About the role

This position involves performing various tasks in the work area under the supervision of the Department Manager/Assistant Department Manager. Duties include covering for absences, coordinating breaks and lunch schedules, overseeing equipment maintenance, and assisting with production scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks in the work area on a daily basis within the team
• Be an on-the-floor work participant with associates
• Cover for unplanned absences and vacations
• Understand and maintain all department reports and procedures
• Cooking and executing department requirements
• Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Promote and enforce quality and food safety standards
• Plan and conduct job skill training for all associates
• Lead and drive improvement of plant operations
• Analyze and understand KPI's and data
• Perform the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of the Department Manager/Assistant Department Manager in their absence

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 18 years old
• Able to learn and perform all positions in the department
• Able to understand plant policies, practices, procedures, and requirements
• Able to plan, organize, and follow-through on assignments
• Able to obtain a forklift license and operate a forklift
• Able to lift in excess of 50 pounds
• Able to travel to any specialized training
• Able to demonstrate good work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Able to work any shift, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
• Able to communicate effectively
• Able to demonstrate leadership skills
• Able to work efficiently with little or no supervision
• Able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
• Able to demonstrate safe working habits
• Able to show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work
• Able to demonstrate commitment to Publix and our mission

Preferred Qualifications

• Some college coursework in Business, Engineering, and/or Food Science
• Department experience related to this position
