Team Leader - Material Handling 2nd Shift

About the role

The Team Leader position at Warner Electric is responsible for leading the Material Handler group for the 2nd shift (2:30pm-11pm) operations. This role directly impacts safety, culture, workplace organization, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, and inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all activities relating to production performance.
  • Cook up activities of material associates and guide them in their development.
  • Continually improve safety record with a proactive approach to physical safety issues and employee safety behavior.
  • Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
  • Collaborate, develop, implement, and maintain improvement initiatives and Lean manufacturing processes.
  • Lead communication between members of the team, shifts, and production cells.
  • Operate industrial trucks (sit and stand), hoists, tuggers, and pallet jacks to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Lift and move materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Clean work area, prepare all skids for shipment, stock production cells, and keep supplies on the production floor orderly.

Education and Experience Credentials

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous leadership and manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, TPS, 6 Sigma, or similar improvement methods.
  • Post-secondary education preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, carry, grasp, bend, walk, sit, lift, and use hands.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Lifting requirements include but not limited to the following: Carrying - Frequent up to 50# distance up to 10 feet; Lifting - 0” to 33” - Frequent up to 50#; Lifting - 34” – 54” - Frequent up to 40#; placement of raw materials; Pushing/Pulling - Occasional up to 80# up to 250 feet.
