About the role
The Team Leader supports Store leadership, delivers Legendary Service, coaches Team Members, and owns assigned sales-floor presentation areas. Team Leaders are expected to be top selling Team Members and have clear ownership of Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, Clothing recovery, and assigned BOPIS/OMNI support based on store needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance; work scheduled shifts with varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures
- Deliver Legendary Service and reinforce Leading with Legendary behaviors through Customer engagement, Team Member coaching, and accountability for execution
- Use A+ Coaching routines to develop Team Members, improve selling behaviors, and reinforce consistent operating standards
- Model selling behaviors as one of the top selling Team Members in the store
- Use A+ Coaching to train, coach, and follow up with Team Members during assigned shifts
- Own Power Panel execution, maintenance, replenishment, signing, and recovery
- Own Clipstrip execution, maintenance, replenishment, signing, and recovery
- Own Endcap execution, maintenance, signing, and recovery
- Own full weekly Clothing Department recovery, including assigned standards and follow-up
- Support BOPIS/OMNI execution, including picking, staging, Customer handoff, and follow-up as assigned
- Lead assigned Team Members during shifts, including task delegation, follow-up, service expectations, and safe work practices
- Support front-end, sales-floor, recovery, and Customer engagement routines as assigned by the Store Manager or Sales Manager
- In under $9M stores, report through and receive direction from the Store Manager for assigned area ownership; in over $9M stores, report through and receive direction from the Sales Manager for assigned area ownership
- Support Store recovery while recognizing Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, and Clothing are owned and maintained through Team Leader area ownership rather than the general Recovery SOP
- Operate cash register/computer, forklift, and other equipment as needed; assist customers with loading purchases
- Complete all documentation associated with the above job duties accurately and timely
- Obtain license or certifications as needed by the business
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge strongly preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- At least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required; must be able to read, write, and count accurately regardless of education level
Skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict
- Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members
Working Conditions
- Generally working inside with moderate noise; work shifts vary but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 10 hours
- Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.); lighting and temperature are adequate
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
Physical Requirements
- Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store
- Push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack)
- Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead
- Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders
- Move throughout the store for an entire shift
- Safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area
- Operate and use all necessary store equipment (e.g., dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register); forklift and baler requirements do not apply if under age 18
- Constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment
- Read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation
- Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers
- Process information/merchandise through the point-of-sale system
- Handle and be in contact with birds/poultry
- Successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane, and dispense propane (does not apply if under age 18)
- Successfully complete all required training
- Travel as required in support of district needs
- Drive or operate a vehicle for business needs
