Team Leader
About the Role
As a Team Leader, you will support Store leadership, deliver Legendary Service, coach Team Members, and own assigned sales-floor presentation areas. In the updated operating model, Team Leaders are expected to be top-selling Team Members with clear ownership of Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, Clothing recovery, and assigned BOPIS/OMNI support based on store needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
- Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Deliver Legendary Service and reinforce Leading with Legendary behaviors through Customer engagement, Team Member coaching, and accountability for execution.
- Use A+ Coaching routines to develop Team Members, improve selling behaviors, and reinforce consistent operating standards.
- Serve as one of the top-selling Team Members in the store, modeling selling behaviors.
- Train, coach, and follow up with Team Members during assigned shifts using A+ Coaching.
- Own Power Panel execution, maintenance, replenishment, signing, and recovery.
- Own Clipstrip execution, maintenance, replenishment, signing, and recovery.
- Own Endcap execution, maintenance, signing, and recovery.
- Perform full weekly Clothing Department recovery, including assigned standards and follow-up.
- Support BOPIS/OMNI execution, including picking, staging, Customer handoff, and follow-up as assigned.
- Lead assigned Team Members during shifts, including task delegation, follow-up, service expectations, and safe work practices.
- Support front-end, sales-floor, recovery, and Customer engagement routines as assigned by the Store Manager or Sales Manager.
- Report through and receive direction from the Store Manager (in stores under $9M) or Sales Manager (in stores over $9M) for assigned area ownership.
- Support Store recovery while maintaining ownership of Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, and Clothing.
- Operate cash register, computer, forklift, and other equipment as needed; assist customers with loading purchases.
- Complete all documentation associated with job duties accurately and timely.
- Obtain licenses or certifications as required by the business.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.
Skills
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
- Ability to perform and execute principal responsibilities of Team Members.
Working Conditions
- Favorable working environment, generally indoors with moderate noise.
- Work shifts vary but are generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 10 hours.
- Indoor floors and outdoor lots are typically hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt).
- Lighting and temperature are adequate.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store.
- Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
- Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
- Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
- Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
- Ability to safely access all areas of the store, including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
- Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g., dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register). Forklift and baler requirements do not apply if under the age of 18.
- Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer and cash register.
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
- Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Ability to process information/merchandise through the point-of-sale system.
- Ability to handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
- Ability to successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane (does not apply if under the age of 18).
- Ability to travel as required in support of district needs.
- Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
- This position is non-sedentary.
