About the role
The purpose of the 2nd SHIFT Team Leader role is to provide guidance and support on an ongoing basis to production associates in the MagStop Value Stream. The success of the person in this role is vital to the continuous improvement efforts in the area(s), as well as the success of Warner Electric to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Attend designated external course on supervision/leadership as determined by management and then at least on a once annual basis.
- Spend limited time on an alternate shift(s) for training and understanding of daily priorities.
- Maintain the appropriate level of 5S in the work area and update the Daily Management boards regularly.
- Ensure a safe working environment and retrain associates when necessary to establish, understand, and recognize appropriate safety behavior.
- Assume lead role for addressing quality concerns or defects during the shift and conduct training sessions to resolve quality issues.
- Champion standard work methodology, ensuring consistent standard work is followed and identifying and solving problems when necessary.
- Train new associates on appropriate methods of standard work, machine operation, daily priorities, quality processes, and company policies.
- Lead by example, provide coaching to associates, and report any coaching failures to the supervisor.
- Act as a coordinator with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to identify areas for improvement and solve issues as they arise.
- Maintain open communication with associates and supervisors to address concerns and pass on relevant information.
- Interface with previous and following shift Team Leaders to share information.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be considered a 'certified' trainer in the area.
- Previous experience required. Post-secondary education preferred.

- Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Mathematical skills to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Common sense, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, exceptional integrity, high degree of professionalism, creative, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and positive role model.
- Area expert, team player, and willing to cross-train on multiple teams/part numbers.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, quality instruction, and process documentation.
- Ability to write routine reports, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and business correspondences.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees and managers.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
