About the Role

To improve the health and social outcomes of youth by cultivating a desire for change in Stockton communities impacted by the War on Drugs through youth activism, mentorship and peer-led support to address the challenges that lead to risks of substance use.

Job Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day implementation of "The Development Project" at assigned locations. Ensure project goals are met. Supervise assigned peer leaders (16-24 years of age) in their support of youth members (12-18 years of age) utilizing modified case management. Conducts home and school visits engaging with students, parents, and teachers.

Position Description

  • Provide coaching to peer leaders at middle, high school or NBCD campus
  • Conduct monthly observations of peer leaders to support individual development and achieve site goals
  • Provide support in onboarding youth leaders to the NBCD service model
  • Support and/or conduct extended day programming by facilitating enriching activities for students before, during, and after school, including, but not limited to, academic enrichment and intervention, homework support, recreation, service learning, and leadership development.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group mentoring to students and regularly meet with their parents/guardians
  • Participate in monthly professional development sessions
  • Organize and maintain student contact data
  • Regularly meet with seniors (high school only) to assist with all college items, including but not related to college applications, scholarships, FAFSA, placement test, etc.
  • Participate and facilitate college tours, brotherhood trips, and campus events
  • Track and report key student performance indicators to the supervisor every month (e.g., student credits, progress toward graduation, college eligibility, college/program applications, college/program acceptances, scholarships)

Qualifications

  • Passion and commitment to NBCD’s mission, vision, and values
  • Currently enrolled in a two or four-year college or university or have completed a bachelor’s degree. Must be enrolled at least part-time at a college if the degree is not complete.
  • Possess good organizational skills and complete paperwork promptly.
  • Have a valid driver license (preferred)

Pay Rate

$15/hr

Schedule

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a background check.
