Team Leader
About the role
The Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing a team of field technicians to ensure the successful execution of construction materials testing services. This role oversees daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, training, and quality control, while supporting project delivery and financial performance. The Team Leader serves as the primary leader for field staff, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.
Responsibilities
- Leads and supervises a team of construction materials testing technicians
- Manages day-to-day field operations, including scheduling and resource allocation
- Ensures projects are staffed with properly trained and qualified technicians
- Promotes and enforces safety policies and proper use of PPE
- Manages field equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventory
- Communicates daily with technicians, project managers, and contractors
- Supports recruiting and staffing to maintain appropriate team levels
- Reviews field reports and ensures quality, accuracy, and timeliness
- Performs field testing, observation, and inspection as needed
- Supports Project Managers and Department leadership with project execution
- Participates in project meetings and client interactions
- Supports business development and client relationship activities
- May manage construction materials testing projects
- Performs other leadership, operational, and technical duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- 4 years of related experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Maintain basic certifications and any advanced certifications necessary for the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
- If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
- Strong professional communication skills (verbal and written)
- Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
- Strong understanding of construction materials testing principles and standards
- Ability to evaluate test results for specification compliance
- Strong organizational and operational management skills
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with electronic devices and MS Office
- Knowledge of company systems, procedures, and workflows
- Ability to coordinate field activities and staffing effectively
- Must be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 85 pounds
- Knowledge of ECS systems and procedures is a plus
