Team Leader 1st Shift

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of LOC employees while actively participating in daily operations.
• Ensuring performance targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met.
• Overseeing all material handling activities, including safe and efficient movement of goods using forklifts and other equipment.
• Troubleshooting minor equipment issues and escalating when necessary.
• Monitoring team BPD (Business Plan Deployment - KPI's) through SPQRCE and providing feedback and support for performance improvements.
• Maintaining valid forklift certification and operating equipment safely.
• Training and mentoring team members on proper forklift operation and material handling procedures.
• Conducting routine equipment checks and reporting maintenance needs.
• Acting as a liaison between supervisors/management and team members, reporting out any issues, delays, inventory shortages, or equipment concerns.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, material flow, and reduce waste, supporting lean manufacturing and workplace organization initiatives (e.g., 5S).
• Enforcing workplace safety policies and procedures, ensuring safe operation of forklifts and adherence to material handling safety standards, conducting safety checks, and promoting a safe working environment.
• Leading, coaching, and supporting a team of material handlers and general laborers in the shop, assigning daily tasks and monitoring workflow to meet customer schedules.
• Training new employees and providing ongoing guidance using the "Go & See" approach.
• Ensuring parts are delivered on-time and accurately to customers.
• Completely daily QPV (Quality Prevention & Verification Checklist).
• Overseeing all material handling activities, including receiving, staging, storage, and shipping of materials, safe operating of forklifts and other material handling equipment, and ensuring proper inventory flow to prevent operation or shipping delays.
• Maintaining key monthly cost targets on BPD board for items such as scrap, rework, etc.
• Monitoring key monthly targets and continuous improvement on waste opportunities utilizing BPD board.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's licence.
• Criminal background check, drug screen, and post-offer pre-employment physical.
• Grade 12 education or equivalent experience.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
• Valid Forklift License (preferred).

Pay

$22.00 per hour.
