Team Lead, Petsense

Overall Job Summary

This position assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in executing operational, sales, and merchandising objectives by providing outstanding customer service. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe and productive work environment, supporting selling initiatives, and training Team Members on policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

Experience: Retail experience and/or pet/live animal knowledge is strongly preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

- Pet/Live Animal, pet food, pet product knowledge is strongly preferred. - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict. - Basic computer skills. - Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members.

Working Conditions

- Generally works inside with moderate noise. - Indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.), with adequate lighting and temperature. - Work shifts vary from one store to another, typically no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours. - Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines.

Physical Requirements

- Non-sedentary position. - Requires physical and mental stamina and ability to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely. - Must operate all equipment related to job duties efficiently, safely, properly, and accurately. - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead, stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders, move throughout the store for an entire shift, access all areas of the store, operate store equipment, read, write, and count accurately, communicate effectively, process information/merchandise through the point-of-sale system, handle and be in contact with birds/poultry, move and transfer live animals, equipment, and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds, successfully complete all required training and certification, and drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
