About the role
In the Near Patient Care (NPC) division, you will be part of an international, collaborative community reimagining the future of diagnostics. As Team Lead - Mechanical Engineering On-Body, you will take on a central leadership role, guiding a highly skilled team of technical experts and advancing mechanical development competencies for On-Body Devices. In this role, you will provide technical and innovative leadership, act as a coach, and drive change within our modern, agile work environment. Your expertise will actively shape the future of diagnostics at Roche.
Responsibilities
- Lead a larger team of specialists in mechanical engineering for On-Body Devices
- Take responsibility for team performance and results within your area
- Set and implement short-term team goals and priorities, considering budget, and plan and delegate tasks within your team
- Ensure projects are effectively staffed and successfully completed in terms of time, quality, and cost through resource management
- Build and manage external partnerships in alignment with project requirements and strategy
- Independently develop and implement decisions to solve problems within your area of responsibility
- Promote competency development in the team through short-, medium-, and long-term skill management, and define standards and methods to improve efficiency and meet regulatory requirements
- Identify and evaluate new technologies for their suitability for the team, including their implementation
- Support individuals and the entire team in continuous learning and developing the skills needed to achieve the vision and goals
Requirements
- Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering with a focus on mechanics, or a comparable qualification
- More than 5 years of experience leading global teams, either as a line manager (people leadership) or as a matrix leader in product development (medical industry or comparable)
- In-depth knowledge and experience in the development of On-Body Devices, particularly in areas such as miniaturization and housing design, microfluidics and sample handling, optomechanical integration, drive and positioning systems, thermal management, and usability and robustness of medical devices
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, strategic and agile thinking
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); German language skills are an advantage
- Strong drive for change, innovation, and continuous improvement, with the ability to turn ideas into action
- Team-oriented approach and ability to collaborate effectively in an international environment
- Experience in building and developing teams and their competencies
