About the Role
A member of the work team with cross-functional responsibilities, this position provides support to the assigned team to ensure quality product and daily schedule attainment. Serves as a facilitator in problem solving, issue resolution, continuous improvement, and training. Ensures a safe working environment is maintained at all times and is accessible to the production floor 95% of the time. Must be willing to learn all jobs on the team to cover for absences or relief.
The Team Leader coordinates with other work cells and departments to meet production requirements and customer needs, with accountability for results in terms of cost, methods, quality, and quantity of production, operations, and personnel.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and assists in completing production and assembly as needed.
- Oversees and directs a production team on a scheduled shift.
- Communicates effectively with management and employees to meet customer needs or demands.
- Assists in the training of new employees.
- Ensures safety and quality policies and procedures are followed.
- Ensures production meets the organization's targeted goals.
- Schedules employees for the assigned work shift and conducts safety or training programs.
- Monitors productivity, machinery, and employee work to suggest improvements in the production process.
- Updates and maintains production reports for tracking and keeps the production and operations manager informed of performance.
- Assists the Supervisor/Manager with employee adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Supports foundational operations disciplines: safety, 5S, lean manufacturing, and standard work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prefer 2 years in a manufacturing/distribution operation.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to address production or quality issues.
- Critical thinking skills to evaluate complex and changing situations, leading to actionable recommendations.
- Able to train quickly through on-the-job experience with a hands-on approach.
- Verbal and written communication skills to report performance to management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting production and quality goals.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid forklift or equipment license as needed.
- Must read, write, and communicate in English.
Ergonomic & Physical Requirements
- Standing or walking up to 90% of the day.
- Lift/carry 25 lbs constantly, up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Push/pull 50 lbs constantly, up to 150 lbs occasionally.
- Grasp 75 lbs.
- Pinch 15 lbs.
- Any lifting over 70 lbs must be completed with assistance (mechanical or individual).
- Full range of motion required: cervical, shoulders, elbow, wrist, fingers, hands, trunk twist, and feet.
- Ability to wear PPE as required.
