General Summary

Under the direction of the Manager – Business Intelligence and Analytics, builds and supports business intelligence and analytics initiatives to enhance departmental and organizational effectiveness, efficiency and safety. Leads collaboration with other Information Technology staff to plan and implement strategies, platforms, frameworks, and technologies. Evaluates hardware and software platforms and ensures system integration Designs database structures that support the business needs of end users. Defines and designs database structures. Develops system configurations and defines technical and functional specifications for data warehouse projects. Writes code to extract data from original data sources. Creates test scripts to identify and address data inconsistencies. Performs quality audits of processes in order to verify data integrity. Provides end user support for data reporting tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience with SQL script development, ETL package development, data modeling and data warehousing, and an operational understanding of the components of the technologies that support a hospital system.
  • In depth knowledge of multiple reporting frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Epic system life cycle with advanced skills in Epic Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench and Radar report development.
  • In depth understanding of technologies, platforms and systems used for reporting and analytics.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Keeps up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Identifies risks and develops contingency plans to mitigate risks.
  • In collaboration with BI/BA leadership, ensure that a Technical Vision exists, is shared by the Business Intelligence team, and aligns with the visions of the Business Intelligence team and Information Technology.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the maintenance of current technical reporting tools utilized by the developers and end users.
  • Functions as the point person for Epic Release cycle conversations with Information Technology and the broader organization.
  • Lead the Business Intelligence team when it comes to tech reviews of new applications used within Information Technology and the great organization.
  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team members to determine what tools are going to be utilized to develop team deliverables.
  • Plan the implementation of and training of new reporting and report development technologies.
  • Lead the analysis of system backup, restoration and disaster recovery planning and strategic direction.
  • Collaborating with the data architect(s) to develop the big picture of Business Intelligence team deliverables.
  • Organize, direct and coach members of the Business Intelligence team in become proficient to advance in the knowledge and use of the reporting and report development tools.
  • Maintains a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursues self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participates on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
