About the role

As a Team Captain of Operations, you will lead store operations across both on-field and off-field execution to ensure a consistent, athlete-ready experience. You will coach your team to deliver strong execution across merchandising, pricing, and signage on the sales floor, while also supporting inventory, fulfillment, and stockroom processes behind the scenes. You will manage priorities and guide your team to deliver operational excellence that directly impacts the athlete experience through accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating athlete needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment.
  • Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards by following established floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, replenishment standards, etc.
  • Promote and lead company programs (e.g., customer loyalty program participation, warranty sales, private label credit card enrollment).
  • Contribute to the development of 30-60-90 day plans to support business priorities for assigned department(s) alongside the Store Manager (SM) and Assistant Store Manager (ASM).
  • Help establish working plans related to operational initiatives, staffing, hiring needs, operational and merchandising sets in accordance with established budgets and financial goals; execute and adjust plans as needed.
  • When sole leader in the building, act as Head Coach and perform general store oversight including opening and closing procedures, Front End and Cash Office functions, teammate supervision, etc.
  • Communicate departmental goals and plans to direct reports daily/weekly and assign workload based on skill levels to maximize efficiencies.
  • Monitor progress against plans and pivot as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations and athlete support while meeting payroll and financial goals, including developing effective schedules for direct reports.
  • Build and lead a strong, effective team by sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining direct reports; provide coaching, feedback, development, recognition, and motivation throughout the teammate lifecycle.
  • Responsible for performance management, including annual reviews, promotional recommendations, and holding teammates accountable for compliance with policies and procedures, including termination recommendations.
  • Create a store environment where everyone, both teammates and athletes, is always welcome and treated with respect.
  • Adhere to and enforce established policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention, standard operating procedures, and external governing laws/guidelines; hold teammates accountable for compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience.
  • Previous retail/customer-facing experience required.
  • Previous people leadership experience preferred.
