Team Captain Operations
About the Role
Join DICK’S Sporting Goods as a Team Captain of Operations and lead store operations to ensure a consistent, athlete-ready experience. You will coach your team to deliver strong execution across merchandising, pricing, signage, inventory, fulfillment, and stockroom processes. This role empowers you to make a real difference by driving operational excellence that directly impacts the athlete experience through accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment.
- Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards, including floor sets, signage, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment.
- Promote and lead company programs such as customer loyalty participation, warranty sales, and private label credit card enrollment.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager (SM) and Assistant Store Manager (ASM) to develop 30-60-90 day plans supporting business priorities for assigned department(s).
- Establish and execute operational plans related to staffing, hiring, merchandising sets, and financial goals within budget.
- Adjust plans as needed using independent judgment and analysis of effectiveness.
- Act as Head Coach when the sole leader in the building, overseeing opening/closing procedures, Front End, Cash Office, and teammate supervision.
- Communicate departmental goals and assign workloads to maximize efficiency while monitoring progress and pivoting as needed.
- Develop effective schedules for direct reports to meet athlete traffic demands and operational initiatives while managing payroll and financial goals.
- Build and lead a strong team by sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining direct reports.
- Provide coaching, feedback, development, recognition, and motivation throughout the teammate lifecycle, including performance management and compliance accountability.
- Create an inclusive store environment where teammates and athletes are treated with respect.
- Adhere to and enforce safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures, as well as external laws and guidelines.
- Hold teammates accountable for meeting or exceeding expectations, including addressing non-compliance.

Pay
Targeted pay range: $44,500.00 - $58,500.00 annually, based on a 38-hour work week. Individual pay is determined by factors including experience, location, and internal pay equity. This role is part of a competitive total rewards package that may include incentives, equity, and benefits.
