About The Job

EDHD 1525W CEHD First Year Experience Instructor Instructors teaching EDHD 1525W have a commitment and passion for teaching first year students in the College of Education and Human Development. Instructors can expect to facilitate and develop a curriculum that invites students to identify, analyze, and critique important issues that impact our society and our communities. Instructors will work with students on developing skills needed to succeed both in college and in their lives after graduation.

All EDHD 1525 FYE sections share the following common features: i) small classes taught by one instructor; ii) a common book and required common events related to the book that happen outside class time; and iii) student services activities and assignments designed to support holistic student development and pathways toward graduation. Each section explores a common question: Can one person make a difference?

Core Responsibilities

• Training and Development: Attend once monthly 60 minute virtual development discussions September - December. Summer training and development workshops are intended to directly support course/syllabus development.
• Common Events: Attend two common events 1.5 hours each September - December. These events are planned by the college and directly connected to the curriculum in EDHD 1525W.
• Course Development: Develop your own syllabus using a sample syllabus and Canvas course template. Develop a course blurb of 500 words or less describing your EDHD 1525W section to be used during summer orientation.
• Teach up to two sections of EDHD 1525 First Year Experience course in the fall and two sections of an identified undergraduate course(s) in the spring.
• Supporting students in becoming college writers through a process developing written papers with a minimum of 2 revisions. Grade student exams, papers and final projects. Submit grades.
• Course/Curriculum Development: Review and develop the current course materials and make adjustments to best meet the needs of students.
• Incorporate books associated with the EDHD 1525W. Attend regular faculty meetings throughout semester to design curriculum.
• Meet with student services as intentional partnership to support students.
• Attend pedagogical trainings to support faculty in writing intensive courses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.

Pay And Benefits

Pay Range: $2,000 per credit ; depending on education/qualifications/experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications. Learn more about retirement plans.
