TEACHING PROFESSIONAL ON TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT (TPOTA) - 195 DAY

About the role

One-year temporary assignment for the 2026‑2027 school year at Graham Park MS in Triangle, VA. The Teaching Professional on Temporary Assignment (TPOTA) works full‑time, 7.5 hours per day, on a 195‑day contract, reporting to the school administration.

Responsibilities

• Implements an instructional program that provides appropriate learning for each student by differentiating instruction.
• Plans and delivers instruction in adherence to Prince William County Curriculum documents for specific teaching assignments.
• Assesses student abilities relative to educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
• Plans appropriate instructional and/or learning strategies and activities, including determination of learning principles, classroom organization, and materials.
• Manages learner behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment and assists with behavior management elsewhere on school grounds and during lunch (except duty‑free lunch, except in emergencies).
• Cooperates in planning and evaluating the school program; requests resource personnel assistance as needed.
• Participates in the school and division professional development program.
• Coordinates instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff (school and non‑school‑based) to maximize learning opportunities.
• Follows professional ethics and supports parent/teacher or parent/student organizations.
• Enforces Prince William County School Board policies and regulations.
• Supervises pupil activities in buildings and on grounds during and after school hours; ensures student conduct and safety.
• Demonstrates prompt and accurate written communication and reporting.
• Adheres to county and school disciplinary procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
• At least one year of successful experience working with students.
• Favorable reference and/or evaluation from a recent supervisor.
• Meet all requirements for eligibility for employment in Prince William County Schools (PWCS).

Pay

Approximate daily rate: $255. Annual salary for the 195‑day contract: $49,724.

Schedule

Full‑time position: 195 work days per year, 7.5 hours per day (exempt, ineligible for overtime).
