Summary Of Responsibilities
- Develops and implements laboratory policies and standard operating procedures.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized working environment, including facilities and machines.
- Maintains tool and supplies inventory, maintains lab course consumables.
- Demonstrates safe and proper use of equipment and machinery to students.
- Maintains service logs where appropriate.
- Works with the CET IT staff to ensure that the department and engineering lab computers and software are kept up to date and functioning.
- Ensures that labs are accessible to students outside of class on a schedule approved by the department chair.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field, and two years of experience; OR a Master's degree in a related field.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field.
- Knowledge:
- Use and maintenance of automated manufacturing facilities and equipment.
- Ordering and inventory control of supplies, equipment, and/or services.
- Laboratory equipment protocols and procedures.
- Troubleshooting procedures.
- Electronics, sensors, and control systems.
- Vibrational systems.
- Fluid mechanics and thermal sciences applications.
- Hydraulics or hydrology, pumps, weirs, and flumes.
- Materials, materials processing, and manufacturing.
- Construction, building codes, ASTM, or AASHTO standards.
- Skills:
- Computer-aided design.
- Installation of software.
- Use of automated manufacturing industry tools and equipment (electronic and pneumatic actuators, electronic sensors, PLC circuits, industrial networks, and OSHA regulations).
- Hand and power tools and equipment (CNC, lathe, circular/table/rift saws, band saws, sanders, grinders, and welders).
- Abilities:
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Analyze and solve problems.
- Utilize, calibrate, configure, and/or troubleshoot laboratory testing systems and instruments.
- Provide technical guidance and training to end users.
- Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
- Foster a cooperative work environment.
- Lift 55 lbs. repeatedly.
