About the role
This position will serve as a teaching assistant for one section of BIOL 3150 Genetics Lab held at the Coeur d'Alene Harbor Center during the Fall 2026 semester.
Responsibilities
- Work with Moscow-based instructor and graduate teaching assistants to deliver consistent lab content to students in Coeur d'Alene
- Maintain wild-type and mutant lines of Drosophila and the equipment and supplies needed for student-led genetic experiments
- Oversee safe work practices in the lab
- Mentor student projects and answer questions
- Grade student lab reports
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field
- Prior coursework in Genetics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Drosophila in an education or research environment
- Experience teaching undergraduate laboratory courses
- Previous enrollment in University of Idaho BIOL 315/3150 Genetics Laboratory
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Standard laboratory environment; duties include handling live Drosophila cultures and operating laboratory equipment.
