Teaching Elder/Pastor: Grace Fellowship Evangelical Presbyterian Church

About the role

Grace Fellowship Evangelical Presbyterian Church seeks a devoted Teaching Elder/Pastor to shepherd our congregation and community. The ideal candidate will cultivate authentic Christian community, model the EPC ethos of holding fast to the Essentials of Our Faith while extending liberty and charity in non-essentials, and demonstrate a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ grounded in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate personal faith through attentiveness to Scripture, mission, and the work of Christ within the church.
• Equip the congregation for active participation in advancing Christ’s kingdom through sound biblical teaching, focused prayer, intentional discipleship, and corporate worship.
• Lead corporate worship, including planning and execution of services and faithful administration of the Sacraments in accordance with the EPC Book of Order.
• Moderate the Session, leading Ruling Elders in prayerful discernment of God’s will.
• Support the Board of Deacons as an advisory member in their ministry of mercy and service.
• Maintain regular office hours to ensure accessibility.
• Drive church-wide discipleship initiatives, empowering lay leadership, volunteers, and ministries through vision development and encouragement of spiritual gifts.
• Provide proactive pastoral care, including visitation, crisis counseling, and intentional outreach to inactive members.
• Engage in local outreach and community ministry.
• Work with the youth minister to develop and guide a thriving youth ministry.
• Oversee administration in collaboration with the office administrator, including annual reporting, membership roll accuracy, event coordination, financial health, and member communication.
• Maintain active participation in the Gulf South Presbytery and EPC General Assembly as a Teaching Elder.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological seminary degree from an accredited institution.
• Must be an ordained Teaching Elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, or fully qualified and ready to undergo the EPC ordination/transfer process.
• Empowering leader who intentionally identifies, cultivates, and empowers the spiritual gifts of others.
• Gifted expository preacher with a deep love for and rich understanding of God’s Word.
• Welcoming, compassionate, and emotionally mature leader who connects authentically with the congregation and Marshall community.
