Teaching Assistant Professor/Teaching Instructor - Engineering Technology Program
About the role
The Engineering Technology (ETEC) Program at West Virginia University invites applications and nominations for two positions at the Teaching Assistant Professor and Instructor level. These nine-month, non-tenure track faculty rank positions are eligible for promotion and merit raises and involve a level of effort of about 80% assigned to teaching and 20% assigned to departmental service.
Responsibilities
- Teaching courses to undergraduate students related to electronic circuits, PLC programming, robotics, manufacturing tools and processes, CAD, safety, and/or materials
- Coordinating courses and class projects
- Serving as liaison to other WVU units
- Participating in planned student-related retention, recruitment, and outreach activities
- Assisting in establishing industry contacts to support the ETEC program and students
- Assisting with and leading continual curriculum assessment and development
- Mentoring and assisting undergraduate engineering technology students
- Representing the ETEC program and the College to prospective students and families, visitors, and other interested parties from within and outside of WVU, as well as at campus and outside events
- Engaging in and supporting limited engineering technology education research
Requirements
The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in engineering, engineering technology, or another field at the time of hire with at least one degree in engineering, engineering technology, or closely related field for the Teaching Assistant Professor position
- M.S. degree in engineering, engineering technology, or closely related field for the Instructor position
- Expertise in manufacturing, electronics, mechatronics, or metrology is strongly encouraged
- Ability to provide engineering students with a nurturing, stimulating, and exciting learning environment
