Teaching Assistant Professor - Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering- 29687
West Virginia University’s Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources seeks a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Wadsworth Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This nine-month, non-tenure-track faculty position is promotion-eligible and carries merit-raise opportunities, with 80 % effort devoted to teaching and 20 % to departmental service.
About the role
- Teach 7–8 sections of Environmental Engineering courses per academic year.
- Serve on faculty committees, act as liaison to other WVU units, and participate in student retention, recruitment, and outreach activities.
Requirements
- Earned doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline (e.g., Chemical Engineering) at the time of appointment.
- Minimum of one year teaching undergraduate environmental engineering courses.
- Expertise in hands-on laboratory support and solving real-world engineering problems.

The Wadsworth Department offers B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Civil Engineering, and will launch a new B.S. in Construction Management in Fall 2026. Faculty research is supported by federal agencies (NSF, DOE, EPA, DOI, USDA, DOD), state agencies, and industry partners, with over $51 M in annual research expenditures across the Statler College.
