Core Job Responsibilities

• Small Group Tutoring : Lead small groups of students in foundational reading, literacy, and basic math concepts.
• Lesson Reinforcement : Review materials and reinforce lessons previously taught by the lead teacher.
• Differentiated Instruction : Help implement specialized learning adjustments for diverse student needs.
• Special Education Support : Assist students with individualized education plans (IEPs) to access the standard curriculum.
• Behavior Management : Apply positive behavioral interventions and conflict resolution techniques appropriate for young children.
• Student Supervision : Monitor students safely during arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch, and transitions.
• Material Preparation : Set up the physical classroom, organize learning centers, and prepare instructional displays.

Clerical & Administrative Duties

• Record Keeping : Assist the teacher with non-grading administrative work like tracking daily attendance.
• Data Gathering : Collate worksheets or organize paperwork used to track student progress.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Education : A high school diploma, GED, or HiSET equivalent.
• Proficiency : Demonstrated proficiency in basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Title I Funding Additions : For school positions funded by Title I, districts usually require an Associate Degree, 48 hours of college credits, or passing the state-approved ParaPro Assessment.

Knowledge and Key Skills

• Child Development : Basic understanding of early childhood development stages for ages 5 through 10.
• Patience and Tact : Ability to remain calm, consistent, and caring when handling behavioral disruptions.
• Flexibility : Adapting to sudden schedule or routine changes across different K-4 classrooms.
