Teaching Assistant: Eastchester Middle School

Serve as a dedicated teaching assistant for students with special needs in a 12:1:2 and 12:1:1 class, guiding students during academics and exploratory courses.

Responsibilities

• Assess student strengths and needs; break tasks into manageable steps; provide clear demonstrations and repetition.
• Assist with lesson delivery, adapt materials, and support IEP-driven goals in various settings as needed.
• Implement behavior management strategies and encourage positive, on-task behavior.
• Collect performance data, document attendance and behavior, and provide updates to teachers.
• Support students in navigating exploratory courses.
• Work closely with teachers and support staff to align educational and vocational goals.
• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs when needed.

Requirements

• NYS certification: Teaching Assistant
• NYSED Fingerprint Clearance

Employment Terms

• 10-month, probationary position

Pay

Base salary range in accordance with the Eastchester Teachers' Association (ETA) negotiated salary schedule.
