About the role
The Lake Shore Central School District seeks a Teaching Assistant / Behavior Specialist to join our team. This position reports to the Building Principal / Director of Pupil Personnel Services and is certified in any area of New York State.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and support staff to ensure cohesive programming and consistent student support.
- Design and implement differentiated, evidence-based instructional strategies that promote academic and social-emotional growth.
- Explicitly teach and embed executive functioning skills such as organization, self-regulation, time management, and goal-setting into daily instruction.
- Build positive relationships with students, maintain high expectations, and use data to inform instruction.
- Provide support and interventions to targeted students through small group and one-on-one sessions, including documenting, maintaining, and discussing data with relevant parties.
- Lead and direct a comprehensive behavior program and social-emotional support at both the school and district levels.
Requirements
- A strong commitment to collaboration, inclusive practices, and high-quality instruction.
- Experience working with diverse learners and a deep understanding of differentiated, evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Knowledge of executive functioning skills and the ability to explicitly teach and embed these skills into daily instruction.
- A reflective practitioner who builds positive relationships with students and maintains high expectations.
- The ability to use data to inform instruction and foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Leadership and direction in designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating a comprehensive behavior program and social-emotional support.
Qualifications
- NYS Certification in Any Area.
