Teaching Artist & Education Jobs

Teaching Artists at the Alliance Theatre offer educational programs for youth, teens, and adults through in-school residencies, classes & camps, after-school programs, and specialty workshops. Positions are filled on a rolling basis, with peak availability in November-December and May-June.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Deliver assigned curriculum or lesson plans in an engaging, age-appropriate manner.
• Create or adapt anti-racist, inclusive, and diverse lesson plans tailored to student needs.
• Follow site-specific protocols and procedures during teaching assignments.
• Communicate clearly with students, fellow teaching artists, staff, and teachers; escalate concerns to the Program Manager as needed.
• Collaborate with co-teachers, classroom teachers, or interns on lesson planning and delivery.
• Submit required documentation, service reports, and paperwork.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to teach, with lessons planned in advance.
• Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Alliance Theatre Education Department.
• Attend all required trainings, orientations, and meetings.
• Be receptive to feedback and open to trying new approaches.

Acting Program & Camp Teaching Artists

• Pay: Starts at $25.50/hour for acting classes and $675/week for drama camp.
• Schedule: Camp teaching artists must attend two mandatory in-person training days (May 20 or 21 and May 22, 2026). Local housing is not provided.

Institute Teaching Artists

The Alliance Theatre Institute partners with schools to deliver professional learning for educators and arts-integrated or theater-based instruction for students.

Childcare Teaching Artists

Provide attentive, nurturing care for infants and toddlers in a creative, arts-centered environment through the Artist Childcare Program.

Teaching Artist Training Program

For current college students or recent graduates seeking teaching artist experience. Camps run May 26 – August 7, 2026 (closed May 25 and June 19). Hours are approximately 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

• Pay: $350/week. Local housing is not provided.
• Responsibilities:
  • Assist teaching artists with stage management, directing, choreography, or musical directing.
  • Supervise camper breaks (lunch, snack, restroom).
  • Assist with carpool pick-up and drop-off.
  • Support classroom needs (supplies, camper assistance).
  • Monitor camp communication channels.
• Opportunities:
  • Hands-on learning in curriculum development, classroom management, direction, choreography, and music direction.
  • Weekly theater workshops with Atlanta professional artists.
  • Weekly lectures with Alliance Theatre leaders.
  • Complimentary tickets to all Alliance Theatre performances.
  • Free classes with Alliance Theatre Education.
• Schedule: Mandatory in-person training on May 22, 2026.

Summer Drama Camp Administrative Staff

Positions include camp coordinators, assistant coordinators, and administrative support staff. Camps run May 26 – August 7, 2026 (closed May 27, June 19, and July 4). Hours vary by role but are roughly 8–9 hours per day.

• Requirements:
  • Mandatory training and prep the week of May 18–22, 2026.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
