Teaching Aide - Part-Time, Alpha - $30,000/year USD
About the role
Alpha Schools, located on-site in Scottsdale, AZ, is seeking a Teaching Aide to join their dynamic team. This role operates within a compressed K-12 model, where every minute is structured, and the pace exceeds traditional schools. The Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth classroom operations, supporting student engagement, and maintaining a high standard of student focus.
Responsibilities
Managing student transitions between lessons (approximately 30% of your day): tracking time, cueing students to transition, and reinforcing orderly, punctual movement through positive techniques
Staging classroom materials ahead of each lesson by collecting supplies, arranging them according to the activity protocol, and verifying setup aligns with the Guide's specifications before teaching starts
Sustaining student engagement during structured sessions (around 40% of your day) by observing participation, spotting early disengagement, and redirecting students with Alpha-approved management methods that preserve instructional flow
Requirements
Available to work on-site at our Scottsdale location. Commit to a minimum of 10 hours weekly, with complete flexibility to select your hours within school operating times (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM).
Prior experience with children ages 5–14 in organized environments (educational settings, camps, childcare facilities, tutoring, or athletic coaching).
Capacity to orchestrate people, resources, and tasks with speed and precision.
Approachable with children and confident in redirecting behavior through positive reinforcement.
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have Requirements
Direct group supervision experience with active children (camp leadership, classroom support, teaching assistant, paraprofessional, youth athletics coach, or after-school program coordinator).
Background in mastery-based, competency-driven, or tightly structured educational environments (Montessori, project-based curricula, or comparable models).
Demonstrated ability to maintain group schedules through positive guidance instead of escalating to adult-level intervention.
