Teacher - ( with BA/BS)- Agnew Early Learning Program (QSS 8846)

About the role

This position involves working with children ages 4-12 years old in an after-school enrichment program, planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, and supporting Associate Teachers and Teacher Aides.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum directly connected to the needs and interests of the children.
• Write and support Associate Teachers and Teacher Aides in curriculum development using project-based learning, STEAM/STEM education, and related developmentally appropriate models.
• Lead and mentor Associate Teachers and Teacher Aides in the development of classroom plans and goals.
• Keep children safe and healthy through proper supervision, authentic interaction, and practicing good health habits.
• Create exciting and enriched environments connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences.
• Communicate regularly with parents to support, guide, and share in their child’s development.
• Work collaboratively with other staff by practicing workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player.
• Provide excellent customer service for families, school, community, and each other.

Requirements

• BA/BS or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Youth/Adolescent Development, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience working with children ages 4-12 years old in an after-school enrichment program.
• CPR and First Aid Certified.
• Working knowledge or the ability to learn District-adopted software: Google Suite, Google Classroom, Google Hangout, and/or Zoom.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Must be in good health, able to lift 30 lbs. chest high, and pass a physical exam.
• Must be able to walk, squat, bend, and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children.

Schedule

Programs are open year-round. Some 10-month positions may be available. Hours, schedules, and locations are subject to change when school is not in session based on the needs of the program.
