Teacher Vocational- Interactive Media Production Pathway (26-27)
About the role
This position involves planning and implementing an instructional program in Career Technology Education (CTE) for the Interactive Media Production Pathway. The role includes providing educational services, managing student behavior, assessing and evaluating student achievement, and modifying instructional activities as needed.
Responsibilities
- Manages student behavior and assesses and evaluates student achievement.
- Modifies instructional activities as required.
- Serves as a CTE classroom teacher in a high school (grades 9 through 12).
- Supervises classroom activities to include laboratory experiences.
- Prepares students to sit for and successfully pass the aligned industry certification exams including Adobe Creative Suite.
- Works with staff and post-secondary institutions to develop and maintain career pathways that prepare students for certification, internships, externships, apprenticeships, licensure, employment, community college or university degree programs.
Requirements
Required: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Career and Technology Education or in the career area to be taught OR Bachelor's Degree or higher and 2 years of occupational experience in the career area to be taught OR Associate's Degree in the career area to be taught and 2 years of occupational experience in the career area to be taught OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of occupational experience in the career area to be taught
Preferred: Possession of or eligibility to acquire current industry certification (preferred) Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (preferred) Teaching experience preferred (student teaching acceptable)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Career and Technology Education or in the career area to be taught
- 2 years of occupational experience in the career area to be taught
- Associate's Degree in the career area to be taught and 2 years of occupational experience in the career area to be taught
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of occupational experience in the career area to be taught
- Three to five years of industry-related work experience in one or more areas of Arts, Media, or Communications with an emphasis on multiple technical area skill sets
Skills
- Ability to teach and promote the knowledge and skills required by CASE and related occupational fields
- Ability to utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning
- Ability to develop, adapt, modify, and individualize educational materials, resources, techniques, methods, and strategies to meet the needs of students
- Ability to prepare students to sit for and successfully pass the aligned technical skills assessment(s) including the Adobe Creative Suite certifications
- Ability to instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injury and damage
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Ability to enforce all administration policies and rules governing students
- Ability to participate in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned
- Ability to coordinate instructional activities and collaborate with other professional staff, both school and non-school based as required, in order to maximize learning opportunities
- Ability to collaborate with other professionals (guidance counselors, librarians, etc.) to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of and lead student experiences in SkillsUSA and/or other student organizations
