Located in Garfield Park, the child/adolescent partial hospitalization program (PHP) is designed for school-age children who may benefit from therapeutic behavioral health services but do not need 24-hour monitoring and adolescents ages 12 through 17 who struggle with a behavioral health disorder or mental health issues but are stable enough to live at home during treatment.
Responsibilities
- Provides instruction to patients while maintaining an orderly and disciplined structure in the classroom.
- Develops special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting.
- Assists in curriculum development.
- Understands the basic growth and development milestones with appropriate interventions specific to the age and population served.
- Completes patient lesson plans.
- Completes and maintains all records as required.
- Maintains an adequate supply of appropriate instructional materials relative to patient’s age and functioning level.
- Assures the maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred.
- One year teaching ED/BD children and/or adolescents preferred.
- Valid Illinois substitute teaching certificate required.
- Knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population, individual and group management skills, therapeutic relationships and processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, and crisis and behavior management.
