About the role

The Teacher - Special Education position at Holyoke Public Schools is dedicated to supporting students with special needs. This role requires a deep understanding of educational strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with other special education teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure students receive appropriate support and accommodations.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to address the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in special education.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • A valid Massachusetts Special Education Teaching License.
  • At least two years of successful teaching experience in a special education setting.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding equal access to education and special education services.
  • Experience with assistive technology and resources to support students with disabilities.
  • Proficiency in using data-driven decision-making tools to improve student outcomes.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule
