Teacher (Special Education).

Metadata: U.S. citizenship required. Male applicants born after 12-31-1959 must be registered with the Selective Service. A background security investigation and valid driver’s license are required. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and serves a one-academic-year probationary period.

About the role

As a classroom, team, remedial, or special-services teacher, you will deliver instruction at the professional level in accordance with the school’s organizational structure. The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional activities under established guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare yearly instructional outlines and daily lesson plans that cover relevant units of study, specifying objectives, activities, and evaluative methods for both group and individual programs.
• Teach students by selecting, developing, adapting, and implementing appropriate instructional methods and techniques using available resources to ensure academic achievement.
• Provide learning experiences in assigned subject areas that develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills tailored to the needs and interests of all students.
• Continuously evaluate individual and group academic progress using criterion-referenced tests, periodic standardized tests, oral tests, and other relevant evaluative methods.
• Use alternative instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Make progress reports to parents and confer with parents and other concerned individuals.
• Maintain required records in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Maintain control of assigned class and handle discipline independently, except for chronic or extreme behavior problems.
• Counsel individual students within established guidelines, using background information to provide an effective instruction-learning cycle related to students’ behavior and progress.

Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited educational institution.
• Hold a valid Teacher licensure/certification in the State where the position is located and in the specialty field identified by the position.
• Emergency and provisional certificates may be accepted under the conditions issued by the State certification authority.
• Applicants with valid State Certification in a state other than where the position is located may be considered; if selected, they must obtain full State Teacher Certification within two full contract terms.

Qualifications

All applicants will be rated based on the documentation submitted. Applications may be further evaluated by a subject matter expert. To qualify, you must meet the education and licensure requirements described for Public Law 95-561.

Education

• Submit a legible copy of transcripts (official or unofficial). Advisement or web-printouts are not acceptable. Official transcripts are required upon selection.
• Ensure transcripts are not locked or encrypted and all pages (including the transcript key) are viewable.
• Education must be obtained from an accredited or pre-accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to be credited toward qualifications.
• For foreign education, credentials must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.

Pay

Pay setting is based on degree and 24 hours in education, determined after the selection process. Pay levels are as follows:

• Pay Level 11: Bachelor’s Degree
• Pay Level 12: Bachelor’s Degree + 15 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 13: Bachelor’s Degree + 30 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 14: Master’s Degree
• Pay Level 15: Master’s Degree + 15 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 16: Master’s Degree + 30 graduate semester hours
• Pay Level 17: Earned Doctorate

Experience may be considered for determining appropriate pay increments for comparable experience. The maximum number of years creditable for pay setting is 17. The per-hour rate for Teacher positions will be modified based on the school calendar for the location (Modified Hourly/Date Rate).

This position is covered by a bargaining unit (Federation of Indian Service Employees, American Federation of Teachers Local 4521). Government quarters are available. Direct deposit of pay is required. Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid. No recruitment incentive is offered.
