About the role
This posting creates a pool of candidates for future positions that may become available. The successful candidate will provide instruction of students by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials and presenting them using instructional techniques which meet the needs of all students. They will also establish clear goals and objectives related to the school improvement plan.
Responsibilities
- Establishes clear goals and objectives related to the school improvement plan.
- Plans and prepares lessons, assignments, and instructional materials.
- Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development.
- Prepares, administers and corrects evaluations and assessments, and records results.
- Selects and uses appropriate instructional strategies including but not limited to lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling and multi-media teaching aids to present subject matter to students.
- Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques.
- Counsels pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise.
- Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning and takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilitates.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, board policy and administrative regulation.
- Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials and facilities.
- Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
- Convenes and participates in teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences as necessary.
- Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and provides input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives and methods.
- Serves on special committees.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistants, teacher assistants and volunteers.

- Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
- Experience: One (1) year experience with virtual learning technology, remote instruction platforms, Learning Management Systems, and video conferencing tools, if assigned to Virtual Academy required.

- Knowledge: Knowledge of school organization, goals and objectives, curriculum, teaching techniques; current trends, research and materials of instruction in field of specialization.
- Skills: Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education; Ability to infuse technology into curriculum; Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school board staff, students, parents and the community; Excellent organizational and human relation skills; Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and develop outreach strategies to encourage parental involvement in student learning; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations; Ability to travel to/from Maryland Sites as necessary at the expense of the employee is required for in-person appearances at various intervals throughout the duration of the school year; Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).

Additional Work Days/Hours Based on the assignment, the following additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed: Evenings/Nights, Outside of normal business hours, Weekends.
Pay
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment. Hold or be eligible for educator certificate/license issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
