Full-time, 180-day certified teaching position in Owasso Elementary Schools reporting to the Principal.
About the role
Create a flexible elementary-grade program and classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth. Establish effective rapport with students, motivate them to develop foundational skills, attitudes, and knowledge for upper elementary grades, and build strong relationships with parents and staff.
Responsibilities
- Teach content and skills aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards and district curriculum.
- Instruct students in citizenship, core subjects, time management, and study skills.
- Adapt lessons for individual, small-group, or remedial instruction based on student needs.
- Select and manage instructional materials, maintaining required inventory records.
- Develop critical-thinking standards through group discussions using mass media.
- Encourage independent thinking and original ideas through writing, speaking, and problem-solving activities.
- Evaluate student progress and maintain an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, social, and learning challenges.
- Communicate student progress to parents and school counselors.
- Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities.
- Support school initiatives, including arts, spirit, leadership, and athletic events.
- Administer or monitor group tests and assist with special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administrators.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate.
- Computer literacy and strong written/oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of education policies, regulations, and laws, including special education.
- Ability to work independently, follow district procedures, and collaborate as a team player.
- Strong documentation skills and ability to manage confidential information respectfully.
- Effective listening and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical, financial, and legal documents.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts (e.g., statistical analysis, sampling theory).
- Ability to follow instructions, define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, sit, and walk.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Requires close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Primarily indoor classroom setting with some outdoor duties.
- Moderate noise levels.
