Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

Responsibilities

  • Understands and supports the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools.
  • Models and instills a love of learning.
  • Designs and implements appropriate instruction of assigned content areas in alignment with school standards, curriculum, and student needs.
  • Plans, prepares, and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning.
  • Utilizes diverse teaching practices and methodologies to meet the needs of students from varied educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Instructs and monitors students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Conducts tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.
  • Conducts home visits to build stronger relationships with students and families.
  • Hosts and mentors student clubs to help students explore passions and leadership skills.
  • Attends and assists with after-hours activities such as student celebrations, parent meetings, and campus-hosted events.
  • Manages student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Implements a clear and consistent behavior management system while developing students’ character and sense of community.
  • Encourages and monitors individual student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Attends department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Participates in staff development and serves on staff committees.
  • Maintains accurate records, prepares reports, and communicates student progress to stakeholders.
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with all levels of management, internally and externally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and office equipment.
  • Ability to analyze data.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Light Work: occasional light lifting.
  • Nights and weekend activities occasionally required.
  • Classroom setting with intermittent speaking, standing, walking, and writing.
  • Moderate travel required.
