About the role

A typical day for a Lead Teacher will include:

  • Working alongside Teacher Assistants to create a safe, healthy, structured, and nurturing environment.
  • Engaging with children in learning—reading, playing, and having fun!
  • Inspiring children to be lifelong learners.
  • Partnering with families to nurture and care for their children.
  • Showcasing tech-savvy skills by using an electronic daily tracking app.
  • Assisting with the accreditation process and other quality initiatives.
  • Overseeing, developing, implementing, and coordinating curriculum and assessments.

Schedule

Our learning centers are open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. We have locations across Rhode Island.

Requirements

We are willing to train the right person! Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A personal demeanor that is warm and friendly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to be organized, prioritize, and multi-task.
  • Team-oriented and willing to work with others.
  • Management and leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • College credits, Associate’s degree, or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of a High School diploma (or equivalent) with college credits in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children in this age group.
  • At least 1 year working in an early learning/child care setting preferred.
  • Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Teaching Strategies and/or Conscious Discipline preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English; bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
  • Must pass national criminal background/fingerprint check.
  • Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS).

Physical Requirements

  • Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting).
  • Visual and hearing acuity.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Pay

$17-$23 an hour based on education.
