Position Summary

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote literacy education, math skills, and overall child development
- Use play-based, hands-on, and inquiry-based learning strategies
- Utilize behavior management strategies to guide children's behavior and promote positive interactions
- Foster literacy, numeracy, fine/gross motor skills, and social-emotional development
- Create a safe, nurturing, and organized classroom environment
- Encourage cooperation and respect among children
- Establish clear routines, expectations, and positive behavior strategies
- Observe and assess student development in cognitive, social, and physical areas
- Maintain records of individual student progress
- Use assessment results to adapt instruction to meet students' needs
- Collaborate with assistants, special education staff, and administrators
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a school-parent partnership for the benefit of each child's learning experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of early childhood developmental stages (cognitive, physical, social, emotional)
- Awareness of developmental milestones and red flags
- Knowledge of early literacy and numeracy foundations
- Techniques for managing behavior in young children
- Understanding of positive discipline and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices
- Awareness of how to support children with special needs and English language learners
- Knowledge of hygiene practices, food safety, and recognizing signs of illness or abuse
- Strategies for building positive relationships with families
- Ability to clearly communicate with young children, parents, and colleagues
- Active listening and conflict resolution
Qualifications & Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred
- Appropriate Massachusetts DESE licensure required—this includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy - Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s)
- Teachers should hold an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement
- A minimum of two years teaching experience in a school setting serving a similar demographic preferred, but not required
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
Pay
$61,788 – $94,614
