Charter Atmosphere

  • Minimum Qualifications: Hold at least a bachelor's degree and present official transcripts showing a bachelor's degree awarded. Must have 2+ years of experience with early childhood education and service. Demonstrate competency in core academic subject area. Certified.

Instructional Strategies:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aid and volunteers.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.

Student Growth and Development:

  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Teach students to work toward self-discipline and responsibility.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus Assistant Director.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school.
  • Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time.

Classroom Management and Organization:

  • Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain neat and orderly classroom.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Use the discipline management plan to include but not limited to: Ground rules, step process for appropriate and inappropriate behavior, lesson agenda.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Aid in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

Communication:

  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development:

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Actively stay up-to-date with new developments in education.

Charter & Community Responsibilities:

  • Convey the charter's mission to the public and encourage support in accomplishing the mission.
  • Illustrate understanding of the charter and community needs and begin activities to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrate use of productive and efficient skills to raise community and parent involvement.
  • Actively participate in student recruitment efforts.

  • Encourage a constructive, thoughtful climate for learning.
  • Promote fairness of students and staff from all cultural backgrounds.
  • Communicate with students and staff in an effective manner that promotes and sustains the Jubilee culture.
