About the role

A Teacher in the Tucson Unified School District Two-Way Dual Language Program advances student achievement through effective management of the learning environment, including preparing lesson plans, evaluating, and monitoring student performance and progress in alignment with the 90/10 immersion model. Our teachers provide effective and equitable instruction to students in various planned courses to address both content and language learning goals. Our Teachers demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous learning and understand and appreciate diversity; they collaboratively develop instructional strategies that encourage students to analyze and interpret class material. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful classroom to create an environment conducive to optimizing student strengths while simultaneously developing their natural curiosity and love of learning.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor student performance and progress in alignment with the 90/10 immersion model.
• Provide effective and equitable instruction to students in various planned courses to address both content and language learning goals.
• Demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous learning and understand and appreciate diversity.
• Collaboratively develop instructional strategies that encourage students to analyze and interpret class material.
• Maintain a safe, respectful classroom to create an environment conducive to optimizing student strengths while simultaneously developing their natural curiosity and love of learning.

Requirements

• Grades Kindergarten – 3rd Arizona Elementary Certificate K-8 with Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
• Grades 4th - 8th Arizona Elementary Certificate K-8 with Spanish Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
• Grades 9th - 12th Arizona Secondary Certificate with Spanish Bilingual Endorsement (Spanish approved area also required if teaching Spanish)
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Pay

EFFECTIVE: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
LOCATION: Multiple Locations – District-Wide
FTE: Varies. Typical Teacher FTE 1.0, 7.5 hours per day.
WORK CALENDAR: 9.5 months – 207 days (212 days for new to district teachers)
