The Classroom Teacher is a cornerstone of Lawrence Public Schools. As a Physical Education Teacher at Leahy Middle School, your expertise will enrich the academic lives of students by fostering physical development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strong, positive force daily in the classroom, consistently motivating students to work hard and engage in learning.
• Design, implement, and collaborate on high-quality curricula incorporating research-based strategies to help students master Massachusetts and Common Core standards.
• Set class-wide and individual goals, providing specific and actionable feedback to students on their academic progress.
• Build supportive relationships with fellow teachers, associate teachers, and staff, offering regular feedback to develop associate teachers.
• Maintain a safe, purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning for all students.
• Collaborate with instructional leaders and partners to ensure instruction meets the needs of all students.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by administration.

Requirements

• Massachusetts Teacher Certification in Physical Education or appropriate area.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Proficient in English.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Prior experience teaching physical education preferred.

Pay

$61,788 – $94,614 per year.

Schedule

Full-time, non-exempt salaried position.
