Teacher of the Deaf - $90 per hour

As a therapist-owned and operated practice, we understand the unique needs of therapists. We are seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join our dedicated team, fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for deaf and hard of hearing students
• Utilize effective teaching strategies and methodologies to enhance student learning
• Support the development of communication skills, including sign language and auditory skills
• Collaborate with families, audiologists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support
• Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and modify approaches as needed
• Create and maintain a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and independence
• Potentially work with students from elementary and high school
• Manage a caseload of 20 children plus consults across several schools

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education of the Deaf or a related field; Master's degree preferred
• Valid Massachusetts Teacher of the Deaf License
• Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of auditory-verbal techniques
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners
• Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs

Benefits

• Compensation of $90 per hour
• Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week
• 1099 Contract
