About the role
Boston Speech Therapy, a local woman-SLP-owned company based in Boston, values your work by ensuring manageable caseloads and providing appropriate workspace and materials. As a therapist-owned and operated practice, we understand the unique needs of therapists. We are seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join our dedicated team, fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for deaf and hard of hearing students
- Utilize effective teaching strategies and methodologies to enhance student learning
- Support the development of communication skills, including sign language and auditory skills
- Collaborate with families, audiologists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and modify approaches as needed
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and independence
- Potentially work with students from elementary and high school
- Manage a caseload of 20 children plus consults across several schools
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education of the Deaf or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Valid Massachusetts Teacher of the Deaf License
- Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of auditory-verbal techniques
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners
- Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs
Benefits
- Compensation of $90 per hour
- Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week
- 1099 Contract
