Teacher of the Blind or Visually Impaired
About the Role
TheraPeds Partners is a therapist-owned and operated organization that partners with schools to provide Teacher of the Blind or Visually Impaired (TVI) services to PreK-12 students nationwide. As a team of special education providers, we understand the education process, IDEA requirements, and the importance of collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
This is a part-time, on-site role as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving a school located in San Antonio, Texas. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
- Deliver instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students
- Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning and support
- Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies to improve outcomes
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress to inform ongoing instruction and planning
- Create a welcoming, safe, and productive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior and learning
- Provide guidance and support to classroom staff in implementing educational strategies for students with special needs
Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education
- Certification for Teaching Exceptional Children - Visually Impaired, Grades Primary through 12
- 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
- Experience working with visually Impaired children
- Organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in use of technology
- Fingerprint background clearance
- Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications

Pay and Schedule
Part-time, 5 hours/week, with a pay rate of $65.00 - $85.00+/hour ($1325-$425/week+). The role is onsite, with various sites, and guaranteed hours, including documentation, administrative, and planning time.
