Summary/Objective

Landmark Academy seeks a dedicated Middle School Science teacher who can consistently plan and deliver engaging lessons, facilitate learning, and maintain accurate student records. The ideal candidate will also assist in developing educational plans and ensure a supportive learning environment.

About the Role

Landmark Academy aims to provide an excellent education that aligns with its mission, vision, and core values. The primary goal is to ensure students meet the State standards and Landmark Academy curriculum. Responsibilities include planning varied, interesting lessons, assigning homework according to school policy, and maintaining accurate student records.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver varied, interesting, engaging, and enjoyable lessons for students.
  • Create lesson plans in harmony with students' learning styles.
  • Assign homework in accordance with Landmark's homework philosophy and PLC team guidelines.
  • Offer assignments and assessments in line with four-period learning, providing frequent and timely feedback.
  • Review and analyze student performance data to develop plans to meet the needs of all students.
  • Maintain timely, complete, and accurate student records (e.g., Skyward).
  • Develop curriculum aligned with State standards and assist in the development of educational plans like IEPs, 504 plans, and behavior plans.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, ensuring it is safe and nurturing for all students.
  • Communicate with parents via various means to keep them informed about their child's performance and progress.
  • Model being a life-long learner and provide effective instruction through ongoing professional development.
  • Teach and model elements of Landmark Academy's character education program (7 Habits).
  • Ensure students have a healthy self-respect and respect for others, reinforcing desirable character traits.
  • Follow Landmark's rules and policies, using Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) and disciplinary procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required and Michigan Teaching Certification in the assigned area.
  • Pre-service experience, as required for certification.
  • Experience in fostering positive communication with students, parents, and staff.
  • Skills in leadership, time management, and behavior modification.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively, including classroom management and positive reinforcement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Understanding and ability to incorporate different student learning styles.
  • Mastery of the assigned subject of instruction.
