About the Role

  • Small class sizes (6-8 students)

  • Comprehensive paid training provided to the selected candidate
  • Intersession leave – 40 days off per year; 186 student days

  • No study hall or lunch supervisory responsibilities
  • Work location: Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility, Massillon, OH
  • Full-time, Monday–Friday schedule

Responsibilities

  • Assess educational needs of youth and develop/implement lesson plans, including individualized assignments
  • Provide instruction with individual assistance
  • Counsel students concerning performance, behavior, and personal problems
  • Organize and/or monitor extracurricular activities if assigned

Requirements

  • Must successfully obtain a Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment
  • Pay and education requirements by role:
    • Teacher 1: Baccalaureate degree or less; starting pay $68,723
    • Teacher 2: Baccalaureate degree + 20 additional quarter hours (less than a master’s degree)
    • Teacher 3: Master’s degree
    • Teacher 4: Master’s degree + 30 hours of post-graduate study
